Staff and students are, and have been active in several projects outside South Africa's borders.

An EC­funded programme to recommend improvements to the northern national parks of Botswana was completed.

Some other international projects are:

• The conservation and management of the black lechwe in the Bengwuelu swamps of Zambia.
• The reintroduction of game and management planning for wildlife parks in Angola.
• The management and conservation of wildlife in protected areas of Kenya.
• The ecology and conservation of elephants in Malawi.
• The reintroduction of desert oryx and gazelle as well as a study on their ecology in protected areas of Saudi Arabia.
